Many of us develop strong impressions of a neighborhood as we travel along its entryways. The civic association has assumed responsibility to improve and maintain this area.

Future Considerations — Vision
- Install landscaping on Rocky Point Golf Course near the equipment placed there to support undergrounding.
- Install a large palm tree or alternative landscape feature behind each entranceway.
- Explore the best alternatives for adding decorating lighting at street entranceways and uplighting oak trees along Dana Shores Drive. Piggyback on the underground design and installation work in order to install decorative lighting in strategic locations.
- Install a second community sign and logo at Americana Drive.*
Completed Items — Select Community Highlights
- Led collaborative efforts with Rocky Point Golf Course and Sweetwater to design, obtain grant funding, and install the Rocky Point sign at the intersection of Independence Parkway and George Road.
- Installed Dana Shores community sign, lighting, and logo at Doral Drive.
- Enhanced the architectural look of street entryways with pineapples and accent tiles.
- Consolidated and replaced old street signs with new decorative posts and signs.
- Working jointly with the DSWC, involved residents in selecting new wall colors, painting the walls, and adding holiday decorations.
- Professionally pruned and shaped the oak trees along the residential portion of Dana Shores Drive, raising them up to allow safer passage for bicyclists, increase visibility, and provide a kept look for the neighborhood.
- Worked with the county to mark stop bars in order to promote traffic and pedestrian safety.
- Partnered with the DSWC to install micro-irrigation and new plants at entranceways and to replace borders around each flower bed.
- Provided dispensers for emergency leashes and dog-waste-bags on the backside of each entryway along Dana Shores Drive.
- Planted palm trees on Rocky Point Golf Course across from the entrance to Pelican Island.
- Worked with the County to reroute the sidewalk at the southwest corner of Doral and Dana Shores Drive.
Because these improvements are highly visible, we often receive feedback on them. We greatly appreciate your comments.

Kudos to everyone involved in the new signs for our community! Our community just keeps getting better and better thanks to the efforts of so many of our neighbors. I know Janet and I very much appreciate all your work. We try to do our little bit to help, and that is the message. If everyone gives a little time and/or money, Dana Shores will be a showcase for all of Tampa. Thank you again.

I had the pleasure of driving around the neighborhood today and looking at the signs. And they look fantastic. What a huge improvement! They look beautiful. Although we make a concerted effort to outline a clear and doable vision, the above vision is subject to change based on new ideas, resource availability, project feasibility, and other factors. Please let us know if you have questions or would like to offer input and related assistance.
