1930: According to online research, the 1930 movie Hell Harbor was filmed entirely on location in Rocky Point. The area was chosen because it resembled the Caribbean, and a full island village set was built there for the film.  
Location: Rocky Point, Tampa, Florida 
Filming details: A complete island village set was constructed on the peninsula. Local Tampa residents were hired as film extras. The film was shot in 1929 and was the first full-length talking picture made in Florida. (See Hell Harbor for additional details.)
